Closed-Loop Auditory Stimulation to Enhance Sleep Oscillations

The temporal coupling between NREM sleep oscillations—such as cortical slow oscillations, thalamocortical spindles, and hippocampal ripples—facilitates the integration of new episodic memories with prior knowledge stored in neocortical networks. Enhancing NREM sleep oscillations non-invasively could potentially improve memory consolidation and provide valuable insights into optimizing learning processes.

In this project, we employ closed-loop auditory stimulation alongside extracellular electrophysiology to investigate effective methods for facilitating sleep oscillations and enhancing memory consolidation.
